Saturday, January 12, 2013 @ Reflection of a CL
Throughout my years in NPCC , I've have been given many
opportunities for many events and NPCC has given me values such as discipline,
confidence, resilience and teamwork which may help me when I go to work when I
grow up. NPCC has also raised my level of confidence and self-esteem, I could
still remember when I was in secondary 1, I was timid ,shy and couldn't express
the thoughts in my mind. I've participated in events such as being volunteers
for society(such as volunteer at Woodlands Community Club), Outward Bound camps
(such as ATC, STC) and compete against other NPCC units from other
schools(Inter-unit frisbee competition at riverside). I've even participated in
rare events which others wouldn't get the chance such as Cadet Leader Drill
Course, National Police Annual Parade, National Camp 2012 , Overseas Education
Visit at Hong Kong. Because of NPCC, I've made many friends, not just my
squadmates or even people in my school , but people who joined NPCC from other
schools, some even from from different Uniform groups from other schools, I've
even made friends who are not from Singapore ! Through it all , I just want to
thank my CIs, TOs, OC and HO because without them, none of these treasurable
memories would happen. If only time can stop here because I would want to
continue my adventures in NPCC !

Monday, November 1, 2010 @ 1st Star Kayaking
The kayaking course was a very exciting course as it teaches us a lot of skills on kayaking. Before the day of the actual course, I could hardly sleep as I was too excited about the it.
On the first day, we sat on the bus and went to the venue for our kayaking. At first, looking at how the place is structured, I though that it would definitely be a boring one. But after going out to the sea to kayak, it turned out to be a whale lot of fun. We had to go to the beach to learn how to do our capsize drill. The coach demonstrated and I was afraid on capsizing. We break up into teams and took turns capsizing. I was afraid of capsizing at that moment and was hoping that my turn could come later but eventually, it was my turn so I had no choice but to capsize. After experiencing that, I wanted to capsize even more. At the end of the first day of kayaking, I had changed my thought towards capsizing and I learn that we could overcome our fears if we took the first step to do that thing we wanted to do.
The next day, there was a bad downpour. So at the venue to kayak, it was down pouring. This had affected the lesson as we could not hear the instructor and there will be rain going in as we kayak. But luckily that happen just before lunchbreak by a few minutes, thus we did not waste so much time. After lunch, we went back to kayak and had learn a few skills on how to kayak like how to rescue someone when he capsize in the middle of the water.
After the 2-day kayaking course, I felt very tired but also did not regret joining as it gives me the chance to kayak which is something that is memorable. If I had the chance to join this same course and kayak again I will definitely join it. I will also encourage people to join this kayaking course if they had the chance to as it will be a memorable one to them just like how it was to me. Overall, this course is tiring but what you get back in return is worth it, like skills on how to kayak and values like courage to do the thing that is right to do.

@ 1st Star Kayaking
Before we started, I really looked forward to the kayaking course and I felt very excited.
When we started the course, I learnt about the names of the different parts of the kayak and I also learnt how to paddle in different directions.
On the second day, we learnt how to paddle forward and we also how to save each other when they capsize.
After the course, I felt that the it was really very fun and very challenging as it is quite hard to control the kayak especially when we are out at the sea as there are wave that pushes the kayak and sometime can make us lost control.

Friday, October 8, 2010 @ NE Jigsaw Puzzle Competition
We had an inter-school NE Jigsaw Puzzle at Evergreen Secondary School, last term. This was a competition held annually to promote National Education. As we were the school that was in-charged of organizing the activity, many of us were busy getting the things prepared. I was given the role of being the emcee, together with Izzat. It was quite a last minute job but Izzat and I managed to come up with a script ourselves.
Over all, I think we did quite a good job and I’m sure everyone had fun.

Friday, July 30, 2010 @ NPCC service day
This year, 2010, I had my second participation in Service Day. I should say it’s rather a different experience this time round as compared to previous time. When I was just a cadet quite new in the unit, I was quite anxious and nervous to carry out the Service Day as I wasn’t comfortable in speaking to the public. Meanwhile, this year, I am quite confident in carrying out the annually event aiming to spread crime prevention. The reason why I mentioned this year event is quite different is due to the fact that this time round, I am the one guiding the Secondary ones and twos to spread the message to the neighbourhood with confidence. Though some of them seem not confident enough, I encouraged them by giving them some advices. By looking at them spreading the message to the residents, it reminded me of my sec one’s life. Nevertheless, it is my responsibility in ensuring that confidence is built in my juniors as they will be the one who will take over my batch’s position soon.
Besides, other events that increased my interest in being my part of EVG NPCC unit is the bond among us. Whether is it within my batch or as a whole unit. Indeed, I am certainly proud for joining NPCC as my CCA. I had a lot of fun and my squad mates will always give me some words of encouragement to lift up my confidence whenever I’m down. I am certain that EVG NPCC will be the best unit if we still carry on with our tradition in lifting each other up when one is down. As that is what a team or should I say FAMILY are for!

Monday, July 26, 2010 @ STC
It was a three day two night camp at Pulau Ubin. For me, this camp was like any other camp except the fact that we camped on an island and got to do more adventurous activities. The only down side of the camp was, like everyone said, getting bitten by insects. Is not that we dislike them a lot but they affected our concentration when doing a task as we have to scratch the affected area almost every 5mins. But that’s the negative part of all camps I guess, no matter where you camp. This camp has also helped me realize how important working as a team is. In some activities, we find ourselves cheering on our group mates and in others, being cheered on. Some activities also push our fears to the limit and require us to go beyond our fear to accomplish the task or activity at hand. Unfortunately for me, my fear of heights got the better of me and I couldn’t complete the task. That’s when your friends come into the picture and they try their best to cheer you up. That is why friendship is one of the values that I have understood from this camp. Another value learnt was respect. Respect can come in many forms- Respecting authority, respecting decisions made and even respecting yourself. However, we learnt that the hard way when we got yelled at, screamed at, on the morning of the last day. All of us got an earful from the CIs as we didn’t respect authority. Frankly speaking, I felt that it’s a bit unfair for those who did what was right to be scolded as well. Well maybe it’s because they want us to have the one for all and all for one spirit so I guess that’s the reason for their actions. During the whole length of the camp, everyone kind of missed each other as we were used to doing stuff as a squad. Overall, this is one of the camps that I feel has taught me a lot of values that will stay with me for the rest of my life.

Sunday, December 27, 2009 @ Basic Leadership Course
" The basic leadership course was organised so as to prepare the sec 2 cadets for their leadership roles when they become NCO’s in their sec 3 life. The course was 9 hours long, which was going to be a long day for the cadets. However, the cadets did not complaint as it was a fun and enjoyable course. The coaches were all humorous. Thus, brighten up the course. The sec 2 cadets had enjoyed the course. Throughout the course, the cadets learnt not only about leadership but also about bonding between each other. Thus, making this course more meaningful, as in NPCC bonding between each other is important.
Most importantly, the cadets had fun, and learnt many things in the process. At the end of the day, although the cadets were tired, their faces were lit up by smiles and the course ended with an “eleven clap” cheer. The cadets were sad that they had to part with the sociable and funny coaches, but i am sure that The cadets will cherish the memories they had together. "
