Monday, November 1, 2010 @ 1st Star Kayaking
The kayaking course was a very exciting course as it teaches us a lot of skills on kayaking. Before the day of the actual course, I could hardly sleep as I was too excited about the it.
On the first day, we sat on the bus and went to the venue for our kayaking. At first, looking at how the place is structured, I though that it would definitely be a boring one. But after going out to the sea to kayak, it turned out to be a whale lot of fun. We had to go to the beach to learn how to do our capsize drill. The coach demonstrated and I was afraid on capsizing. We break up into teams and took turns capsizing. I was afraid of capsizing at that moment and was hoping that my turn could come later but eventually, it was my turn so I had no choice but to capsize. After experiencing that, I wanted to capsize even more. At the end of the first day of kayaking, I had changed my thought towards capsizing and I learn that we could overcome our fears if we took the first step to do that thing we wanted to do.
The next day, there was a bad downpour. So at the venue to kayak, it was down pouring. This had affected the lesson as we could not hear the instructor and there will be rain going in as we kayak. But luckily that happen just before lunchbreak by a few minutes, thus we did not waste so much time. After lunch, we went back to kayak and had learn a few skills on how to kayak like how to rescue someone when he capsize in the middle of the water.
After the 2-day kayaking course, I felt very tired but also did not regret joining as it gives me the chance to kayak which is something that is memorable. If I had the chance to join this same course and kayak again I will definitely join it. I will also encourage people to join this kayaking course if they had the chance to as it will be a memorable one to them just like how it was to me. Overall, this course is tiring but what you get back in return is worth it, like skills on how to kayak and values like courage to do the thing that is right to do.
